Wayne Rooney did not hide his desire to be captain of Manchester United squad this season.
Currently, the United squad does not have a middle of a skipper. Previous captain, Nemanja Vidic has been a move to Inter Milan. Rooney was touted to be the leader of the Red Devils next candidate, along with Robin Van Persie.
When asked by reporters ahead of the test match AS Roma counter, if he wants to inherit the position of Vidic, Rooney was immediately admitted it wants to be skipper of the Red Devils. However, he stressed that the decision regarding who the captain is still in the hands of Louis Van Gaal.
"Of course I want to be a captain. However it is up to the manager who he chose. I think he wants to work with the players first and then choose a new captain from there," he said as reported by The Telegraph.
"I think he will not just come and pick sudden. I'm sure he'll see the current players and make a decision within the next two weeks," he continued.
